Bradford Producing Hub Ltd (BPH) is a recently incorporated Company Limited by Guarantee. We are looking for a Chair of the Board, as well as up to 4 new Board Members, who, on registration with the Charity Commission, will become Trustees of the Charity.
BPH is a major cultural development organisation for Bradford and the region. By carefully listening to the needs of the sector we have built a range of exciting, impactful, schemes and initiatives that support individuals and organisations develop the skills, networks, and opportunities they need to achieve their creative potential.
This is a really exciting time to join BPH – not only will you be one of the founding Board members of the new company, but you will be here to guide it through a vital period in its growth. You will support our role as Capacity Building Partner for Bradford 2025 City of Culture; developing the district’s creative talents and laying the foundation for an enduring and viable legacy to the City of Culture year.
Job Requirements
The new Chair will play a vital role in the transition process to a fully independent organisation. Currently, BPH Ltd. has a small Board of four members, drawn from the original BPH Consortium. The appointment of a new Chair is a priority of the organisation.
This is a position of leadership for the organisation and will require in-person attendance at meetings and events on a regular basis. We are looking for applications from individuals who have a clear understanding of the cultural sector and who have had previous experience at trustee/Board level. They should be flexible and able to embrace the principle of doing things differently, embrace the multicultural diversity of Bradford and BPH, and be passionate about the city and the region.
It is anticipated that the role will require a commitment of at least 1.5 days across each month, although this may increase at busy times, particularly in the first year of the new company.
Job Responsibilities
- Work alongside BPH Director and Chief Executive to oversee the transition process
- Support BPH Ltd.’s application for charitable status
- Lead on the recruitment of additional Board members
- Ensure effective governance of BPH that’s able to support growth and development
- Work closely with stakeholders and funders to ensure compliance and confidence in BPH and its capacity to deliver
- Ensure ongoing effective financial management of the company
- Support the development of a 3 year business plan
- Support a programme of Board training and development
- Champion the work of BPH and support the development of new programmes, workstreams, and funding opportunities
- Align the operations and delivery of the company with the ambition of Bradford 2025 City of Culture
- Scrutiny and due diligence of all critical financial, planning and policy decisions
- External reporting to key funders and stakeholders
