FareShare Midlands is looking for a committed and experienced leader to work with our established and diverse board and senior management team to fight hunger and tackle food waste…
We are looking for a Chair who will bring their life experience, insight, expertise and skills to work alongside our existing board of trustees and our Chief Executive, and who will show commitment and develop a real interest in our work, our people and the services we offer.
You will lead our cohesive and forward looking trustee board, strengthen its work and help shape our future strategy and purpose. You won’t necessarily need to have experience in charities, though that would be welcome, but you will need to understand organisational governance. You will have a passion for the work we do, understand why our work is important and be strongly committed to the future of our services across the Midlands.
It is imperative for us to have a board which reflects a range of backgrounds and identities and, most importantly, represents the people we exist to support, as we believe that such increased diversity will improve our creativity and decision making. As such we encourage and welcome applications from all our communities. We particularly welcome applications from people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, as they are currently under-represented within FareShare Midlands.
A detailed Role Description is available on our website.
To Apply
If you feel you have the passion and experience to lead our board of trustees, we would love to hear from you. Please send an up-to-date CV or LinkedIn profile along with a supporting statement stating how your skills and experience would add value to the Board, as well as why you are interested in joining us.
Send your CV with a supporting statement to recruitment@faresharemidlands.org.uk
Closing date for receipt of applications is 31st August 2023
FareShare Midlands is the region’s largest food redistribution charity. We take good quality surplus food from the food industry and get it to frontline charities all over the Midlands, reaching more than 67,000 vulnerable people every week. We turn an environmental problem into a social solution. Last year we redistributed 5,670 tonnes of surplus food, helping over 550 frontline groups to provide 13 million meals. A typical FareShare Midlands Member – local charities and community groups including community centres, homeless shelters and children’s breakfast/school holiday clubs – saves an average of £10,000 from their food budget each year.
