Looking for:

A trustee with financial strategy and administration experience

Leeds Youth Opera is a well established youth opera company with an income between £45,000 and - £80,000 generated through box office sales, membership  income, fundraising and Leeds Music Education Partnership grant. 

With a vision to develop its earned income through a Junior LYO for 7-11 year olds, increased attendance at the Summer School and music education outreach the charity is looking for a Trustee with financial strategy and administration experience.

Skills required:

Contribute to the financial strategy of the Charity and to undertake the simple bookkeeping required before the annual accounts are independently examined.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate strong commercial acumen and an interest in music education.

Time commitment – approximately 6 hours a month including monthly trustee meeting.

About the organisation:

Leeds Youth Opera is a well established youth opera company with an income between £45,000 and - £80,000 generated through box office sales, membership  income, fundraising and Leeds Music Education Partnership grant. 

It has three professional workers – a Music Director, Artistic Director and Repetiteur - the administration and operatic productions are carried out by volunteer including trustees.  There is an aspiration for a paid part time administrator.

Leeds Youth Opera provides a high quality educational experience for young people interested in song, drama and musicianship principally through two fully staged operatic productions a year and develops young talent – through an open access Summer School for 8-16 year olds.
