Northern Lights guide way through social media maze
New research shows that 91 per cent of businesses will use at least one social media platform to attract new customers in 2014 and one Harrogate firm is now working to ensure local companies can make the most of this powerful new tool.
Communications director of Northern Lights PR, Ben Pindar, says: “Social media is no longer something that can be dismissed as a teenage fad, it’s becoming hugely important for businesses.
“Although social media has been around for some time, the B2B market is only now beginning to appreciate the potential it offers for winning new business.
“Research published by Digital Insights show that businesses with a social media presence see almost 70 per cent more inbound leads. In our own case, 60 per cent of new business in the past year has been as a result of our social media presence.
“It’s a massive global marketplace and businesses cannot afford to ignore it.”
With this in mind, the public relations and marketing agency, which has been part of the Harrogate business community for 25 years, is launching a series of workshops to help businesses understand social media and then develop successful strategies for using it to win new business.
The first workshop will concentrate on Twitter and Google+, helping businesses to create accounts and then use them to target potential customers, build new relationships and secure new clients.
Taking place at the Pavilions of Harrogate on July 14 from 9am, the three hour session is an interactive experience that will equip people with the skills they need to grow their presence online.
Ben says: “Many people find the prospect of getting involved in social media daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. We’ve created these great value workshops to help businesses in the area create a clear and simple strategy on how to use these free tools to offer their services to a world of new customers.
“Twitter and Google+ now have 2.6 billion users between them – that’s almost half the world’s population. It’s an incredible shop window for businesses and this workshop will ensure you can use it to win new business
“Regardless of whether you’re new to social media or already have an active account, this will help you to develop a strategy to target the people you need to be speaking to.”
The workshop costs £65 and places at the event are limited. To book a place, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01423 562400.
