Dewsbury-based Caldervale Technology, a world-renowned manufacturer of systems and tools for welding plastic pipes used in most industries, has bought Chesterfield-based Fusion Equipment Ltd in a deal that will help push them into more markets around the world.

The deal will create a company with a £6.75m turnover and will help fuel ambitious plans to grow the business by 30 per cent over the next five years.

Fusion Equipment, part of the Fusion Group, manufactures a range of equipment that complements the Caldervale Technology product range and both will now be sold side-by-side to customers around the world.

Co-owner and managing director of Caldervale Technology, Gordon Lilley, says: “The Fusion Group is a major name in our industry and it is something we have aspired to for years. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to add more to our existing product range and is a great platform for us to be able to grow both businesses.

“We pride ourselves on our innovation and expertise and Fusion Equipment only adds further to that. We will be maintaining Fusion Equipment’s existing global customer base and will be adding to that by offering Caldervale Technology’s range of products and brands alongside.”

Under the deal, all staff and equipment at Fusion will be retained at their current site but will be moved to a new adjacent building that offers more space for growth. Caldervale Technology’s current premises in Dewsbury will also be retained.

Caldervale Technology was founded in 1983 and manufactures its products at three sites in the UK, exporting more than 55 per cent of its goods.  It focuses heavily on innovation and delivers products for sectors ranging from the gas industry through to fish farms.

Gordon adds: “This is a great deal for everyone involved and we jumped at the chance to get involved with a great business like the Fusion Group and build a stronger relationship.

“We plan to invest in Fusion Equipment and deliver even more to their customers by making use of our skills and innovation. In return, our product range will be available to even more people around the world.”

Fusion Group managing director, Kevin Raine, said: “Fusion Group will continue to supply its’ clients with the same range of equipment products, however we hope in the near future to benefit from the focus , expertise, skills and management that the Caldervale Technology team will bring to Fusion Equipment Limited.

“We look forward to building a long and close relationship with Caldervale Technology.”
