Eureka! The National Children’s Museum based in Halifax, has appointed Northern Lights PR to open up its expertise in play and learning to government policy makers, academics and businesses.
This is the sixth new business win – all in competitive tenders – for the Harrogate-based agency in the last two months. As well as Leeds-based HR services company HR180°, Northern Lights is also working with two software developers –MyKnowledgeMap e-learning software in York; and LHASA, a not-for-profit global software company that predicts toxicologies.
Northern Lights is also working with two new start-ups, welcometraining.com that holds the Yorkshire licence to run Welcome to Excellence hospitality training; and homesalebureau.com – an internet based business for individuals to sell their home online.
Leigh-Anne Stradeski, chief executive of Eureka! said: “Northern Lights really understands our brief to be respected leaders in the field of play and learning – and came up with a solid strategy to get us there. We are launching an academic blog and will be engaging with policymakers and academics using social media in a very focused way.”
Northern Lights has also appointed Helen Standing, Young Communicator of the Year 2010 in the region’s CIPR awards. Helen previously worked with international consultancy Trimedia – now Grayling – and recently with West Yorkshire Transport Authority on public consultations.
Victoria Tomlinson, chief executive of Northern Lights, said: “It’s been a dynamic start to the year. And we have a number of other very interesting potential new clients.
“Like many businesses we were hit by public sector cuts last year – 60% of our business disappeared overnight. However, these successes show our ability to reinvent and refocus the business and there is a considerable growth market in technology-based businesses and innovative start-ups. Our skills in business social media have also given us an additional strengths.”
Eureka! was one of Northern Lights’ first clients 20 years ago – the agency carried out an award-winning launch campaign and generated more than 10,000 advance bookings from school-children.
